About the Grimsby Author Series

Each evening begins at 7:00 pm with a sampling of wines provided by a Niagara wineries. At 7:30 pm introductions begin. Most evenings feature two authors; each author reading about twenty minutes, followed with a question-and-answer period with the audience. Each evening concludes with door prize draws and the authors signing copies of their books for patrons. With tickets priced at less than the cost of a movie and popcorn, audiences have come to enjoy the intimacy, enthusiasm and excitement of having a close-up experience with Canada’s most recognized, award-winning authors.

Please check our Twitter site before heading out to the reading sessions. We endeavour to notify of cancellations due to inclement weather, illness, etc.

History of the Series

The mission statement of the Grimsby Author Series is to foster literacy in the community and to promote and celebrate Canadian authors and Canadian literature. The series is a special fundraising project of the Grimsby Library Board. All money raised by the Grimsby Author Series goes to support enhanced programming, acquisitions and facilities at the beautiful, new Grimsby Library/Art Gallery.

The Series was originally known as The Pumphouse Author Series because for the first two seasons the readings were held at the old, renovated Grimsby Pumphouse on the shores of Lake Ontario. Ticket demand made a larger venue necessary. The Series moved to the 140 - seat theatre-auditorium at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, 145 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby for three seasons but, because of increased popularity the series out grew the Blessed Trinity facility. Since 2007, the Grimsby Author Series has enjoyed its larger, and more gracious home, at the Casablanca Winery Inn.
